Companies that are classified as "Too big to fail" and "too big to jail" are as much a threat to capitalism and the free market as monopolies.
These companies should be broken up into smaller entities in much the same way as monopolies so that if one or two fail or are guilty of illegal activities, they may be shut down and those responsible for illegal activities to be tried and sent to jail without fear of an economic meltdown on a national or global scale.
To allow these companies to exist as they are, poses an existential threat to the U.S. economy and the free market system.
