Break up the current 2 party dominated political system and develop an approach that will work

Currently with the two party political system that is instituted in our government, there is too much gridlock for anything to get done. We have the technology, the smart minds, and the manpower to actually make a successful change in this world we currently live in. However, due to the opposing agendas of the two parties that dominate our system, nothing gets done. The fact that opportunities to make a change for things that actually need to get done in this day and age keep getting passed by makes me sick. We need to develop a new system where people vote for ideas they actually believe in, not because that is what their political party tells them to do. We should not be so separated on so many vital issues in this day and age. We need change or this will continue!
