Break Up the Los Angeles Unified School District

Created by M.L. on March 16, 2014

We respectfully call on the President and Congress to substantially increase funding for classroom education but restrict those funds to school districts with less than 100,000 students.

The LA Unified School District (LAUSD) has 919,930 students at over 1,000 schools. It covers 720 square miles and includes the mega-city of Los Angeles as well as all or parts of 31 smaller municipalities.

Widespread waste, fraud, abuse and chronic fiscal mismanagement sap the morale of 45,000 school teachers and starve our classrooms, preventing our children from getting the resources they deserve

Help us build a smaller, smarter, better more accountable school district that we, as parents, teachers and taxpayers can hold to the highest standards of academic excellence and fiscal management.
