Breeding Pure-Bred Dogs Needs to be Illegal

Created by V.E. on July 26, 2016

Dog breeding is extremely detrimental to the health of a dog. A lot of pure-bred dogs are born with a number of genetic defects that are extremely harmful to the health of the dog, and often shorten their lives. English Bulldogs can't safely give birth naturally, and must undergo a C-section, because breeding has caused their hips to be too narrow. Pugs' eyes have a tendency to pop out of their heads. Boxer's are prone to cancer. Beagle's are prone to epilepsy. Boston Terriers have respiratory problems. This needs to stop. We should not be subjecting animals to years of pain and suffering because we think they are "cute." A person would not willingly give their child a heart condition just to make sure they have blue eyes, and it should not be any different when it comes to dogs.
