Bring $1.5T of US overseas corporate profits back to capitalize infrastructure projects, increase jobs & GDP growth

Created by J.D. on January 13, 2013

A way to fund overdue infrastructure investments, outside of the current tax/spend gridlock is urgently needed. The current investment shortfall is ~$1.18T

US corporations could repatriate the estimated $1.5T of offshore profits, if converted to long term investment in a 'National Infrastructure Bank' and used exclusively to finance roads, rail, power grid development, energy efficiency remediation and other job creating capital investment projects. The capital would be repaid net of a lower tax withholding and could only be used for infrastructure spending.

Benefits:
- path to repatriate offshore untaxed profits
- provides capital for overdue infrastructure at lower cost
- corporations and citizens would benefit from GDP growth & improved infrastructure
- GDP growth helps reduce deficit
