On October 26, 2013, Merrill Newman was detained by North Korean authorities after wrapping a (legal) 10 day visit in the country. Newman is an 85 year old Korean war veteran & was rumored to be detained because of his participation in the war. We as the American people must stand up and do everything we can to get Newman home for the holidays. He is clearly being punished for fighting in a war over 50 years ago. I know the US government is doing their best to get him home, but we can all do our part and write letters to our congressman to petition for immediate action, ensure constant social/broadcast media coverage of his detainment, and keep Mr. Newman in our hearts as we go into the holiday season. He has heart problems and is of advanced age. We have to get him home.
