North Korean officials detained an 85-year-old American veteran of the Korean War last month as he sat in a plane set to leave the country. He was visiting there as a tourist with a friend.
A uniformed North Korean officer boarded the plane on Oct. 26 and asked Merrill Newman, a tourist from Palo Alto, California, for his passport before telling a stewardess that Newman had to leave the plane.
According to his son, that was the last his dad was seen; leaving the plane. He has a heart condition and his son is not sure if he has his medication.
Can't the US Embassy o get involved and get this man out? He served our country, he has a heart condition and this is how he is thanked for his service... What about his rights? He is a grandfather & his family just wants him home safely.
