Gains in productivity should be traded for more leisure time.
A four-day work week would allow workers to spend more time with their families, less time stuck at a desk all day and more time tending to their health (perhaps driving down healthcare costs), and less time driving to work (creating an environmental benefit with fewer cars on the road).
Even if 40+ hours of work are needed each week, these can be squeezed into four days rather than five.
