Obama believes that tighter gun laws will end gun violence. But what about the opposite, putting firearms in the hands of responsible citizens to end the madness? Gun violence can surely be prevented when the shooter sees ten or twelve civilians pointed guns at him/her.
This is why a civilian militia would be helpful. Not the National Guard; first-responders willing to defend their loved ones' lives. They would need to receive background checks, mental exams, and training to place our trust in the most responsible that we can.
There is no need to withhold guns from the responsible when they are ready to respond to any threat. If we can do this, we can secure our safety and our freedoms.
