Rural customers of ISPs, such as Frontier and AT&T, continue to experience Internet service speeds that are reminiscent of 1990s dial-up (downloads of less than 1Mbps). The economic and social benefits of stable high-speed Internet service have been well-documented, though the FCC and its Connect America Fund partners continue to ignore the complaints of rural Americans. In Dec 2014, the FCC mandated CAF recipients provide a minimum 10Mbps speed, but why shouldn’t ALL rural ISP customers enjoy this speed? The FCC needs to require companies receiving CAF grants to include current customers in their expansion efforts and upgrade current systems to meet this threshold before gaining new customers. Please ask the FCC to bring ALL of rural America up-to-speed!
