Bring ASL Second Language Courses Into America's Schools

Being able to understand and use American Sign Language (ASL) is a valuable skill that could be of use to many students and citizens. ASL can be used to better communicate with our country's deaf communities, mentally disabled communities, and even non-deaf communities in certain circumstances. Learning a second language is something already valued by many schools because it teaches students ways to communicate with the global community as well as understand diversity. Second Language courses often delve into teachings about the cultures along with the language, and a better understanding of the communities mentioned above can further work to unite our nation and promote inclusive environments for all citizens.
