The refusal of the Senate leadership to include the banning of assault weapons in the gun control package is an act of cowardice. The families of our country have the right to be safe in their homes, schools, places of work and places of worship. The polls clearly indicate that the majority of Americans support the ban of these weapons of war. They expect their senators and representatives to do their duty to ensure public safety despite whether it means being challenged in their next election. The time for courage has come.
