At some point, the 9-5 work day turned into 9-6. Employees are looked down upon for wanting to get home and spend time with their family for a healthy work/life balance.
While expecting employees to stay late is not illegal, encouraging a work/life balance will greatly increase productivity in the office.
The government should be encouraging employers to respect the time of their employees and remind them that a 40 hour work week is more than acceptable.
