We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Bring back the Assault Weapon Ban

Created by E.S. on June 13, 2016

Sales of assault weapons were banned by the federal government between 1994 and 2004. During the ban, the use of assault weapons in crimes fell by a dramatic 66 percent. These weapons “are not generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes," according to the ATF, and instead “are attractive to certain criminals.” Assault weapons have been used in some of the worst mass murders the country has experienced, most recently in Orlando. These weapons make us less safe; they have no sporting use; law-abiding citizens do not need the for self-defense. Congress should reinstate the Assault Weapon Ban.
