Bring back the Civilian Conservation Corps to create jobs and build infrastructure such as railroads, solar and wind.

When the civilian conservation corps was originally created it allowed those who were without work and had families to support to build camps at job sites across the US. The camps would serve as shelter and the workers were paid a decent wage for unskilled labor. They were also provided meals and uniform clothing so that the entire income could be sent back to the worker's family. The workers would build dams, railroads, highways and other infrastructure to support a growing nation. Today, this same approach could be taken to support solar and wind power solutions, build railways and assist in disaster relief. In time the country could almost do aware with welfare and require those who wished to receive money from the government to actually work for it.
