For more than 50 years, the National Yule Log burned warmly and brightly each night throughout the Christmas season, near the White House National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse in Washington, DC. But in 2012 the National Park Service unilaterally decided to end this tradition, covering over the fire pit and depriving legions of families and children of warmth and happiness after they trekked to the nation's capital on cold December nights to celebrate the season.
President Obama, please direct the Park Service to reverse its misguided decision, and take all appropriate steps to have the National Yule Log burning once more in time for Christmas 2013.
