In any society, there are always a few individuals who, although not technically guilty of any crime, still cause much harm and annoyance to others. Fortunately in ancient Athens, the birthplace of democracy, people had a solution. Any citizen could be sent away into exile if a certain number of other citizens voted him out. In that spirit, If a petition calling for the exile of any one American reaches or exceeds 500,000 signatures, that person should be given a one-way ticket to a destination of his or her choice and then would not be permitted to return for ten years. After ten years, that individual may return at his or her own expense.
This draconian policy is necessary because the nation needs a break from certain corporate CEOs, pop stars, and high-profile criminal defendants.
