On March 16 2014, John Boyd was illegally camping in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Police surrounded Mr. Boyd in the Sandia Foothills and demanded he surrender. Over the next 3 hours police kept up the pressure on Mr. Boyd, calling in a specially trained, federally funded, supplied and trained crisis intervention team who shot and killed Mr. Boyd.
This administration must draw the line on police using excessive force with the tools provided to them by the federal government. Local police need to understand that their duty is not parallel to the military and their motto must still be protect and serve.
We ask your administration to bring federal charges against every police officer involved in killing Mr. Boyd or using their position to justify the killing in an effort to cover up his murder.
