On the night of March 24, 2012, Richie Minton, then active dispatcher for the Carbondale Police in Illinois, coerced his then ex-girlfriend, Molly Young, to arrive at his apartment to help him because he threw up on himself from intoxication. Young was later reported dead by Minton in which he alleged suicide by overdose. It was later revealed through reports from the autopsy that Young was also shot in the head from Minton's gun, allegedly self conflicted. Minton was allowed to change his clothes, despite blood splatter on his jeans, and the opportunity to clean himself before the Carbondale Police took him to the police station for questioning. To this day, Minton alleges that he was asleep when Young supposedly shot herself and refuses to take a lie detector test.
