A song, book or movie is not more valuable than an invention. The current extreme length of copyright prevents people from enjoying old works and prevents new works from being created. Therefore copyright should be reduced to a term of no more than 20 years. An inventor has to keep inventing, but a writer can profit forever off of one work. This is unfair and is the main source of our current piracy problems. Copyright should be a tool used to both allow profit from works, and to encourage new works. Current law fails in both aspects. It must be amended to a shorter term that re-invigorates our media with new works and new takes on old works.
