Because employees of Wells Fargo Bank engaged in fraud and conspiracy to enrich themselves at the expense of their account holders, violating criminal law and all standards of practice in the banking industry, and because the individuals responsible have not been charged with crimes, we petition the Justice Department to bring criminal charges against all Wells Fargo employees, present and past, who participated in this conspiracy to defraud customers of their wealth, enriching both themselves and the Wells Fargo Bank. The settlement for $128 million in fines and no other clear penalties is dwarfed by earlier settlements, also for fraud. Therefore, it is clear that financial penalties do not achieve justice, as they are ineffective and punitive prison time would be just.
