If a murderer or rapist eludes law enforcement in your neighborhood and officers are searching door to door do you: A) Invite them in to conduct a search or B) Request a search warrant.
If asked whether or not the NSA should have access to my phone logs I would give permission, not because I am sacrificing freedom for security but because I have nothing to hide, no nefarious activities of any relevant sort.
