Caustic chemicals and chains are applied to the horses ankles which forces them to walk with an exaggerated step know to judges as 'the Big Lick'. The Horse Protection Act of 1970 gives the USDA the authority to inspects horses at shows for sings of soring and punish those responsible, however, this program is underfunded and corrupt. The Prevent All Soring Tactics act has been sitting in the Senate since April of 2015 and the House of Representatives since April of 2013. Congress must step up and push to pass this act for the welfare of tens of thousands of beautiful animals.
