Mr. President,
As we both are fathers, I ask that a set federal laws be put into place to create an equal opportunity for fathers to raise and be active in their children's lives. Many active and loving fathers are punished in our current legal system.
Many states favor a child's mother for custody even though the father has overwhelming evidence to support his case. To add insult to injury, this favoritism often leads to back child support payments for items such as child care and healthcare that the father has already paid. Able bodied mothers often will not work because fathers are forced to pay increased child support to compensate. Children should not be used as pay checks.
All parents should have equal rights. We have healthcare reform, now its time for Family Law Reform
