There are numerous petitions about stopping Congressional pay but without a change to the 27th Amendment it can never effectively change the way our Congress is behaving. The 27th Amendment states that no changes can be made to Congressional pay until elections. So even in the event of a government shut down Congress will still receive pay with no way to stop it legally until a new election is held. There needs to be an addendum that nullifies this Amendment in the event of a government shut down. It should state that if the government is in such dire straits as it cannot function then all pay is suspended until time that a plausible plan takes effect to restart the government. Party posturing needs to stop today, if you can't work together then leave, let others that can do the job.
