A few members of Kenya's Parliament have threatened to throw President Obama out if he mentions gay rights - but this is precisely the reason that gay rights need to be mentioned. In East Africa, LGBTQ are frequently treated as less than human. What is said matters. It starts changing hearts and minds when a respected foreign leader, like Obama, makes the case for why LGBTQ individuals should be treated as human. Please use the opportunity to bring attention to the fact that human rights mean rights for ALL humans.
