When President Clinton left office in 2000 we had a balanced budget & a $400 million surplus. In the span of 13 years the surplus has turned into a $16.7 trillion debt & an average budget deficit of $1.5 trillion every year.
We can no longer give foreign aide to other countries, by bankrupting our own. It is insanity to borrow nearly $0.40 of every dollar from countries such as China, so we can give it away to other countries.
This petition, provided it garners support from the American people, calls not only on President Obama's administration, but all members of Congress as well, to halt all foreign aide until such a time as our national debt is eliminated or at the very least brought under control & on a path to elimination.
Example: Programs such as SSA are owed approx $4 trillion.
