On July 7, 2014, Eric Garner was murdered by Officer Daniel Pantaleo of the NYPD in Staten Island, New York. Eric Garner was initially approached by an officer on suspicion of illegally selling cigarettes. Video evidence shows Eric Garner peacefully responding. Pantaleo then attacks Eric Garner, putting him in a choke hold that is banned by the NYPD. He is then slammed on the ground and is heard begging for air. His continuous pleas for air were disregarded by the officers, and none of them attempted to save him. His body then goes limp and he is announced dead one hour later.
A grand jury failed to indict Daniel Pantaleo. Daniel Pantaleo pounced on Eric Garner like a wild animal, resulting in his death, and none of his accomplices attempted to save him. They should be tried in court.
