The US automakers are scared to produce diesel-powered cars because of the bad reps of the cars from the 1980's. The President could give an Executive order to allow the automakers to import some of their diesel models from Europe to let the American market "try" the NEW diesel options available over there. The new diesels are less polluting than gasoline cars and achieve excellent MPG ratings. Even if diesel fuel costs more than gasoline, the increased MPG still makes them come out ahead. Wake up America!!
