Russia has turned it's back on human rights. The violence and discrimination taking place against gay people is abhorrent and the government of Russia is not only standing by and doing absolutely nothing to protect their own citizens from hate crime, they are passing legislation that allows for it. Russia considers itself to be a first world country but they allow their own citizens to torture and abuse minorities just because they practice a different type of lifestyle.
If we attend these games knowing how they treat their people and that they have no intention of stopping it, they we are in essence saying that it is okay. It is not okay. We as Americans should be outraged, demand in our loudest voices that this activity cease immediately and send a message to Russia and the world!
