Bring the patent process into the 21st century. Too many frivolous law suits that inevitably cost the consumer are filed

The patent process, especially in the telecommunications device industry, has gotten too far out of hand. Patent trolls are granted patents for vague and ambiguous "ideas", juggernaut companies are granted patents for obvious symbols, and lawsuits begin to fly. These law suits cost all parties billions of dollars in settlements, legal fees, and overhead and inevitably the bill gets passed down to the consumer. Let's put an end to this convoluted and broken process before [insert slippery slope argument here].
