Millions of children of America going to public schools may have been affected by method and the statistical approach which grades the students by CoGat Exam.
(a) CoGat Scores come in whole numbers and hence it has to be modeled by a discrete random variable. But they use a continuous probability distribution function.
(b) Supervisor of Grants, Testing and Special Projects of Monroe Township School District says that the mean value of the score is 100 and standard deviation is 16. These parameters calculated based on a national population cannot be a magical whole number like 100 or 16. It would be a fractional number.
(c) Schools do not provide a copy of questions and the marking scheme. This is lack of transparency to the process.
