The United States has wasted billions of dollars on a corrupt government. They've showed no interest in bringing the country into the 21st Century and install a democratic government. The United States has lost too many lives and money on a country that continues the tribal in-fighting. Leaving a skeleton force would not serve any purpose. Afghanistan will return to it's previous policies. keeping troops there prolongs the inevitable, a return to the previous century we found them.
