bring Voyager I back to Earth.

Created by S.T. on November 13, 2012

In 1977 the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration launched the Voyager I spacecraft. By 2025, this expensive piece of scientific hardware is expected to run-out of fuel. NASA has made no attempt at planning a recovery and salvage or refueling operation. We hereby petition the White House to direct NASA to turn Voyager I around and bring it back to Earth. The loss of this $250 million investment would be a tremendous incident of government waste during a time in which this country is facing great fiscal peril. Meanwhile, tickets for admission to see an Earth-based Voyager I could potentially raise thousands of dollars for the National Air and Space Museum. It could also be refueled and sent the other direction. Or, it could be sold for scrap.
