Do you know that the "shelf life" on prescription drugs and "tylenol" type products is a myth? Studies have found that the majority of tested products, if properly stored, last up to 5 YEARS longer than stated. Page 3-4 of this article talks about this. There was a program by our military, (SLEP), to study drug shelf life which uncovered this as they were looking for ways to save costs. Between the years of 1993 and 1998, for $3.9M in testing, SLEP saved over $263M in drug wastage. The pharma industry places a conservative date on medicines to keep the population purchasing more drugs all in effort to make billions! The costs for those having hard times trying to stay healthy are unnecessary.
