With full knowledge that the Executive Branch cannot and should not interfere with the Press, it is nevertheless requested that this petition be broadcast here.
The Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas (WBC) has enjoyed for many years a disproportionate degree of media coverage. We the undersigned call upon the Press simply, henceforth, to ignore them.
Some collectives thrive on power, others lust after money. The WBC cares nothing for these things; they do however crave widespread attention, and the media has fed them with it for too long.
We the undersigned believe that the Nation would better be served simply by ignoring the protestations and antics of this group. We ask the media to ignore them, and no longer to enable them.
