The second amendment at its very basis has become antiquated due to the progression of technology and civilization. Militias in developed countries are a thing of the past, and commercially available weapons today are barely usable in terms of capability to over run government interventions. Fighter jets, nuclear bombs, helicopters, and tanks for example will hardly be matched by any commercially available weapon for use by a "militia."
A revised second amendment stating what is encompassed in a more precise detail is needed. Every American has a right to "protect themselves," but far from hiding behind the words militia and free state.
