This recent pipeline problem has also highlighted the fact that the Treaties between our Government and our Native American Indian tribes are being broken at an alarming rate. It is the government's responsibility to ensure the security and protection of the reservations and to enforce the legal boundaries as set in the original treaties. These people were forced to vacate lands of their ancestors, forced into boundaries that many had no food or water, forced into less desirable lands. Now, as soon as the wastelands we call reservations are even a little desirable it is taken from our Indian Nations. Unfair compensation if any, once again. The problem is not the American Indians. And should the Native American Indian tribes not have the right to refuse infringement of the lands given them?
