Include brothers and sisters in the definition of "family." The Family and Mecical Leave Act (FMLA) allows employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave from their job to care for sick or injured family members. But it defines family as just parents and children. It excludes brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles. Revise the law or the regulations to allow those who need to take unpaid leave to care for brothers or sisters to do so.
