If we, as a country, had build, launched, and kept a Death Star in space, we could potentially "rule the world". It could help with defense, science issues, space missions/patrols, and also help make reaching distant planets possible. In defense, it has a gigantic laser to destroy other countries and make the other countries fear us. For space issues it could help us find other life among different planets. With Space Missions/patrols it could help us reach possibly as far as we could want it to go.
