I want the united states government to turn the united states southwest deserts into a giant solar farm. 100 square miles filled with reflectors and tanks for farming algae. The algae would be turned into biofuel for the nation's cars, fuel that wouldn't subtract from the fuel supply and be carbon neutral.
By combining these two technologies, the idea is to make an economic engine to massively boost our energy output. By making our own fuel, we would have a safety net against foreign energy slings and arrows. By turning our hottest, most arid and unpleasant region into a battery, we use land that can't support agriculture or large populations more wisely.
Whats more, this build would make jobs, not just government sponsored ones but also factory jobs. Lets light up America!
