Elon Musk has boldly outlined a system called Hyperloop that is far more efficient than existing transport modes for distances under 900 miles. The benefit to the people of the United States of such a system far outweigh the estimated cost of 6 billion dollars. Therefore, it is imperative that we either build the Hyperloop or understand why it is impractical.
The government should allocate funds and setup a center for the research and construction of the Hyperloop. It should have a defined goal of completing construction on a SF to LA route within 10 years.
