John Adams is without doubt one the least recognized founding fathers. However he indisputably one of the most important figures of early American history. Adams was a key figure in securing our Independence from Great Britain, he led the peace negotiations after the revolutionary war, he was the first president to occupy the White House and he saved our nation from a possibly devastating war with France against popular opinion in 1800. These are just a few of the actions Adams performed in service to his country, but they go largely unnoticed. It is time his worth was recognized with a monument in our nations capital. It is time Adams took his rightful place in the American Pantheon next to Washington and Jefferson as arguably the most important figure American of the Revolutionary era.
