Build a Nationwide fiber network

Created by A.C. on August 19, 2016

Since it is clear that the big ISPs such as Comcast, Charter, Verizon, AT&T, Frontier, and others all refuse to directly compete with each other contrary to what they claim. I propose that instead of spending over 500 billion dollars on the military the Country should instead divert around 200 billion total to be spent on building a national fiber network for all 50 states.

At one point the estimated cost for Google to have built a nationwide fiber network was around 150 billion (total). It has become clear that Google no longer wants to invest in fiber and instead is considering switching to wireless technology.

ISPs have a vested interest in keeping competition to a minimum There are 21 states that have barred utility services from creating their own fiber networks. This is wrong.
