In the same vain as FDR expanding electricity to every farm, we need the gov to provide a public internet option. (e.g. instead of paying a private company for internet, we pay the gov.)
The government needs to build out a high speed fiber network. The internet is more than a right. It’s a public utility that is needed to survive. We cannot depend on private companies to build this network as it is not profitable for them.
As electricity was vital for people to create businesses, the internet is needed to create businesses. Modern businesses need an online presence to to sell goods, to advertise, etc. It is vital for children doing homework & learning. Vital for a curious kid who got their 1st computer to spend hours exploring nasa.gov & be inspired to become an astronaut.
