build an Overwhelmingly Large (OWL) telescope, with a diameter of 100 meters or more, on the far side of the moon.

Created by D.P. on January 28, 2013

We ask that the Obama administration commit to placing an Overwhelmingly Large (OWL) telescope, with a diameter of 100 meters or greater, on the far side of of the moon, within 10 years. Not only would this be the most sensitive telescope in use, it would be shielded from all the light pollution from Earth, and the distortions caused by Earth's atmosphere. It could directly image planets orbiting the 100 nearest stars, or even further.
