Build basements (safe-rooms) in every school with an access door in every class room. Wire for all utilities and communications. This idea would not only support protecting our children from crazy shooters, but could additionally protect them from all natural disasters. In case of a fire the students could avoid the hallways and go to the safe-house out an exterior door to the outside. This would be beneficial in so many situations. The students could be instructed monthly on what to do in case of emergency! They could also stock the safe-houses for potential extended stays. This safe-house could also serve as temporary community shelters during/after natural disasters. All this could be planned and worked into the State, County, and City emergency planning.
