Build a sea wall to prevent future devastation on Staten Island

Created by J.T. on April 05, 2013

Hurricane Sandy was devastating to coastal families on Staten Island. Lives were lost, homes destroyed and victims waited for relief. Insurance companies let down policy holders, displaced residents were not given even the luxury of FEMA trailers to live in until their homes can be fixed, and members of congress debated the Sandy relief bill. As we slowly rebuild our lives we want the security of knowing that we will be protected from future storm surges. If a worse weather condition occurred even more of Staten Island could be devastated. Many of us also can't afford the changes to our flood insurance & flood maps and a barrier such as a sea wall could improve our flood zones and lessen the burden on home owners. Please help!
