Build a Space Elevator.

With unemployment so low and the economy not much better, now is a perfect time to launch a large scale space project. The idea of a space elevator has been seriously considered by NASA, and would allow us to send objects into space more cost efficiently than with rockets. The basic idea involes a counterweight in Geostationary orbit with the Earth, attatched to the Earth by a teather. The centrifugal force of the Earth spinning ballances the Gravitational force exherted by the Earth. Since the discovery of carbon nanotubes, this idea now seems more feasible. Such a project would be more cost efficient than rockets on the long run, and would produce thousands of jobs here in America, along with a similar influx of new technology to that which occured after the space race.
