Build Stargates for easy access to other planets

I think this is a good idea that could benefit mankind and possibly save the human race in a event of a catastrophic event that could destroy our world. If we can construct these gates on other planets it would be very easy to travel to another planet instead of launching space shuttles off the earth. But what we would have to do first is build space ships that can safely travel to those planets and then we can construct Stargates. Colonization is another benefit, our planet is getting over populated. Give it a couple more hundred years our resources are going to run out then each country is going to collapse. If we colonize planets that would mean possible discoveries in cures for diseases and possible other alien races.
